Episode 48 - Great Expectations 2016!
Sunday Jan 17, 2016
Sunday Jan 17, 2016
We start off the new year with a bit of a chat about the gaming we’ve done over the Christmas break, including “Rage” and “Borderlands The Pre-Sequel” on 360, and Mitch’s new ios addiction, “WWE: Champions”. From there it’s on to TV, including a non-spoiler chat about “Mr. Robot” and "Making A Murderer", re-cap of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s “Wrestle Kingdom 10” and a pointless conversation about UK game show “Pointless”. After that we chat movies, movies and more movies, especially going over some plot points about “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, so if you don’t want spoilers, skip from around 41 minutes to 51.30. We also spoil “Good Will Hunting”, but figured Joe was the last person on earth to actually see it. Then, for our third year running, we have a look forward to the upcoming big cinema releases that we are keen to check out. We even manage to squeeze in a little tribute for David Bowie as well.

Christmas Eve is here, but it's not the end of the world, it's just the end of our 12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials
However, it just might be the end of the world for The Goodies in this Christmas epsiode from way back in 1977. Watching this again brought back many fond memories of our childhoods watching repeats on ABC, and made us yearn for a simpler time when comedy just worked.
There are a couple of different versions of this available on YouTube, most are broken up into parts, but there is a full one here if you can handle the fact it isn't full screen.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 11: The Strike!
Wednesday Dec 23, 2015
Wednesday Dec 23, 2015
For Day 11, the penultimate as Mitch rightfully pointed out, we put on our Puffy Shirts and headed back to the heady days of late 90's New York for the "Seinfeld" episode "The Strike".
Not only does it bring up the concepts of the "two face" and making up fake charities to donate to as a way of avoiding buying actual presents, it was also the episode that made us all aware of that magical time of year that is Festivus.
So grab your aluminium pole, get set for feats of strength and prepare to air your grievences!

As we head into the final stretch, Day 10 brings us another serving from "Bob's Burgers" with the Christmas episode from Season 3 called "God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins". It has all the usual strange asides that we've come to expect, plus the added bonus of Zach Galifianakas.
If you want to watch it for yourself before we do, there is a very good HD rip on KissCartoon.me you can check out.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 9: The Spirit of Christmas!
Monday Dec 21, 2015
Monday Dec 21, 2015
Much like "The Simpsons", the origins of "South Park" stem from a Christmas episode too, so for Day 9 of our 12 Days of Christmas Specials we go back to where Trey Parker and Matt Stone started it all, and watch not one, but two specials, each called "The Spirit of Christmas".
Firstly it's the 1992 one, also known as Jesus vs. Frosty, and then the slightly more advanced 1995 one which became known as Jesus vs. Santa, that went on to pave the way for the actual first season of "South Park".
Both eps are pretty easy to find online, especially at YouTube if you want to see for yourself.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 8: Skinner's Sense Of Snow!
Sunday Dec 20, 2015
Sunday Dec 20, 2015
Just like last year, Joe being the big Simpsons fan, he chose a Christmas themed episode from Springfield's favourite disfunctional family to add to the list for our 12 Days of Christmas Specials. So, for Day 8 this year we watched the Season 12 episode, "Skinner's Sense of Snow".
When the Simpson kids and the rest of their class get snowed-in at school with Principal Skinner and grounds keeper Willie, Homer and Flanders plan a rescue. There are lots of classic moments in this one, and a couple of surprisingly adult references too.
We watched this one on KissCartoon.me if you want to see it for yourself before we ruin the jokes.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 7: Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas!
Saturday Dec 19, 2015
Saturday Dec 19, 2015
Christmas is a time for family and friends, and maybe watching old TV specials, but not a time for maths as we struggle with the concept at the start of this episode.
Once we get our heads back around the numbers, we look at Season 2 Episode 11 of "Community" called "Abed's Uncontollable Christmas", which is a stop motion tribute to the classic 60's Christmas shows like Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Although it's pretty hard to find Community online legally, the DVD for this season has a pretty neat making of mini-doco which can be found on YouTube here.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 6: The Tick Loves Santa!
Friday Dec 18, 2015
Friday Dec 18, 2015
The Tick is one of Mitch's favourite comic book characters, and it just so happens there is a very good Christmas themed epsiode of "The Tick" animated series called "The Tick Loves Santa". What better way to celebrate the half-way mark of this years crop of specials.
We watched this one on kisscartoons.me, but there is also a good rip up on YouTube if you want to watch it for yourself.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 5: The Star Wars Holiday Special!
Thursday Dec 17, 2015
Thursday Dec 17, 2015
Wow, what can we say about this one?
With Mitch exhausted after going to the midnight screening of "The Force Awakens" last night, we decided that there was no such thing as too much Star Wars, and dug up his DVD copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978.
Do you like Star Wars? Do you like Bea Arthur? Do you like funky retro cartoons featuring the debut of Boba Fett? And more importantly, do you want to see a wookie grandfather watching strange virtual reality porn? If you answered yes to all of these, this is the one for you!!
There are some versions of this floating around online, including this one from YouTube that may or may not contain the Boba Fett bit, if you want to check it out for yourself.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 4: Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean!
Wednesday Dec 16, 2015
Wednesday Dec 16, 2015
Mr. Bean is a strange fellow who gets in all mannor of crazy situations, none moreso that in this very funny Christmas themed episode from back in 1992 called "Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean".
This might just have been Joe's favourite special from this years crop, and Mitch had some genuine laughs too. If you'd like to watch it for youself before we give away the gags, check it out on youtube here.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 3: 12 Tiny Christmas Tales!
Tuesday Dec 15, 2015
Tuesday Dec 15, 2015
In the first of our unknown specials for the year, today we typed in "Christmas" on the kisscartoon.me search box and tried our luck with what came up. This strange but kinda cute collection of Christmas stories had gave us some chuckles, but we're still hoping to find a hidden gem like last year's "Junky's Christmas".If you want to see if for yourself before we give out the spoilers, check it out at kisscartoon.me.

12 Days of Christmas Specials Specials 2 - Day 2: Robot Chicken!
Monday Dec 14, 2015
Monday Dec 14, 2015
For Day 2 we thought we'd try our luck with an old favourite, and watched the Season 5 Robot Chicken Christmas Special. In true Robot Chicken fashion it takes on Christmas favourites like Home Alone, the very first Christmas, and the big man, Santa, himself. There are a few versions of this floating around online, we watched the uncut version that was on Kisscartoon.me if you want to watch it yourself to avoid spoilers.
