Welcome To My World Episode 6 - ...And Now, Sports!
Wednesday Aug 03, 2016
Wednesday Aug 03, 2016
With the Olympics just days away, this month for our mini episode we thought we'd look at sports movies.
So, in true Massive Attack fashion we looked at two films that probably have just as much to do with the Olympics as we do ourselves, with the Asian kick-fest "Shaolin Soccer" and the Psyche-out showdown, "BASEketball".

Episode 54 - Jake And The Fat Men!
Thursday Jul 21, 2016
Thursday Jul 21, 2016
After a brief gaming chat covering "FarCry 3" for Joe and "Tron TV" and "Red Dead Redemption" for Mitch we dive into TV with the gritty 70's record producers in "Vinyl", Dinosaur robots in "Dinotrux", suspenseful criminal drama in "The Night Of" and small town sci-fi in "Stranger Things".
We then jump into movies with the Irish 80's music-based drama "Sing Street", pan the acting in the new Peter Pan based "Pan" and go on a side tangent covering almost anything but "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."
Mitch then gives us a thorough rundown of why the new "Ghostbusters" is an important film, and we head back to the world of wrestling and watch the newly released to Netflix doco, "The Resurrection Of Jake The Snake".

Welcome To My World Episode 5 - Political Movies!
Friday Jul 01, 2016
Friday Jul 01, 2016
In the year of the next US presidential vote, and the eve of the Australian Federal Election, what better time for the boys to discuss political movies.
Joe goes all school council crazy with the Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick drama "Election" while Mitch looks at the McCarthy trials with the George Clooney directed "Good Night and Good Luck"
Mitch even manages to slip in some important voting advise too.

Episode 53 - Cons, Comics and Proper Cream Order!
Thursday Jun 23, 2016
Thursday Jun 23, 2016
We start off the show this month with a bit of a run down of our involvement at Continuum Convention 12 over the June long weekend, including panels and DJ'ing the costume ball, as well as tales of Mitch's drunken escapades.
After that it's a brief chat about games with Joe getting stuck into "Farcry 3" and Mitch going back to the DLC for "The Force Unleashed", and some TV with "Great British Bake-Off" marathons, new comic adaptation, "Preacher" and ABC sci-fi with "Cleverman".
Joe talks movies with his thoughts on "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Deadpool", and fueled by his 5 year old son's dinosaur obsession, "Jurassic Park" and "Jurassic World". Then, seeing as Mitch didn't actually watch any movies this month, we look at some happenings in the comic world with "DC rebirth", "KaijiMax" and "Wacky Raceland".
And despite being a slightly shorter show that usual we even manage to squeeze in a book review for Ernest Cline's "Ready Player One" and weigh in on that age old battle, what goes on the scone first, the jam or the cream?

Welcome To My World Episode 4 - Gaming Memories!
Wednesday Jun 01, 2016
Wednesday Jun 01, 2016
On the show this month we depart from movies for a change, and look back at some of fondest gaming memories. For Mitch is was a little Sega Add-On that let you back up your games onto floppy discs and Joe talks about buying his first console with his own money, the Super Nintendo.

Episode 52 - Cereal, Cartoons, CD's and Dinosaurs!
Thursday May 19, 2016
Thursday May 19, 2016
We're a week late and a little bit all over the place with Mitch sick with a cough, but it doesn't stop us from diving into games with "Rise of The Tomb Raider" and "Dead Space 2", talking TV with "The Walking Dead" and "Mike Tyson Mysteries", taking a huge bite out of the "Saturday Morning All-You-Can Eat Cereal Cartoon Party" at the Astor, as well as "Captain America: Civil War", "X-Men Apocalypse" and "The Huntsman: Winter's War" in movies, and still finding time to get all cultured with the Jurassic World exhibition at the Melbourne Museum and the Melbourne production of "Singin' In The Rain"
We even squeeze in our disappointment with SNL films after "Wayne's World" and Mitch gives us his opinions of the Massive Attack Mix Tape Vol. 1 now he's had a month to let it all sink in.

Welcome To My World Episode 3 - Comic Book Movies!
Sunday May 01, 2016
Sunday May 01, 2016
With Free Comic Book Day less than a week away, for this episode we decided to pick our favourite films based on comic books.
After tossing up the idea of what type of books to choose, we both went down the superhero road, and went double Marvel with Mitch choosing "Iron Man 2" and Joe going with the first "Thor" movie.

Episode 51 - Mix Tape Mania!
Saturday Apr 16, 2016
Saturday Apr 16, 2016
It's Wrestlemania month, so in this episode we talk a lot of wrestling - the build up, the aftermath and what we though of the Wrestlemania 32 itself.
We also have a chat about movies, including a pretty spoiler free look at "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice", musicals with "Xanadu" and "Grease", and the romantic comedy "Leap Year'. A brief look at TV with "Orphan Black" and "Call The Midwife", and a little bit of Xbox with "Need for Speed: Most Wanted" and more mobile gaming with "Futurama: Game of Drones".
Then for the second half we go experimental. Following on from the idea last episode, Joe has put together a mix tape for Mitch to showcase some new music, so what better way to capture his first impressions than to play it for him in the car while we go for a drive.
We've put together a youtube playlist of the tracks, so you can hear them for yourself to see if you agree with Mitch and his opinions.

Welcome To My World Episode 2 - Teenage Favourites (That Might Not Hold Up)!
Thursday Mar 31, 2016
Thursday Mar 31, 2016
For the second of our Welcome To My World episodes we go back to our care-free high school days to look at two of our favourite films from our teenage years, the Queen soundtrack fueled decapitation frenzy that is "Highlander" for Joe, and the highly unlikely scenario of a teenage flying ace stealing a fighter jet to rescue his captured father in "Iron Eagle" for Mitch. Did we watch them repeatedly when we were younger? Sure did! Are they any good now? Probably Not. Either way, listen to what we have to say about them, but be warned, there are big spoilers for both of these twenty plus year old films.

Episode 50 - Attack Of The 50Th Episode!
Monday Mar 14, 2016
Monday Mar 14, 2016
It's our 50th episode, so we thought we'd celebrate in true Massive Attack form and pick something with "50" in it's title, but after passing on a 50 Cent film, "50 First Dates" or "50 Shades of Grey" we ended up settling on the sci-fi classic from 1958, "Attack Of The 50ft Woman." It's an iconic poster, but was the film itself just as iconic?
Before that we also had a chat about the Aussie-ness of "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel", the frenetic "Galaga Legions DX" and the episodic "Life Is Strange" in gaming. For movies Mitch checks out "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in Imax, Joe watches an old favourite in "The Basketball Diaries" and the vampire spoof, "What We Do In The Shadows".
We even manage to go over the strangely addictive TV re-boot, "Fuller House", the end of an era with the "Mythbusters" finale, and set up a new challenge for the coming months, The Massive Attack Mix Tape.

Welcome To My World Episode 1 - Guilty Pleasure Films!
Tuesday Mar 01, 2016
Tuesday Mar 01, 2016
Welcome to the strange world that is Massive Attack.
This is the first of our new series of mini-sodes we will be posting each month between our main shows. Each one will focus on something we enjoy, starting here at episode 1 with our guilty pleasure films. Mitch pulls out an obscure one, and then revels in bagging out Joe's for being much more main stream than expected.

Episode 49 - SinGORS and AcTORS!
Saturday Feb 13, 2016
Saturday Feb 13, 2016
This month we dive in with TV including the new DC series "Legends of Tommorrow", talk food and British panel shows with "Great British Bake-Off" and "Would I Lie To You?" and gaming with our new addiction, "WWE: Champions".
We then move on to movies with the new Tarantino flick "The Hateful Eight", Mitch attends a press screening of "Deadpool", Joe was dissapointed with "The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2" and neither of us can really understand why they bothered making "Jem & The Holograms".
After that, inspired by David Bowie and Toby Keith (who looks an awful lot like Mitch) we wrap up the show with a disussion of musicians who tried there luck in the acting world.
